Graceful Opportunities is the nonprofit partner of Grace Reliant Health Services. Graceful Opportunities provides business and transportation opportunities to individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities in Cape Girardeau County and beyond.
Starting with Grace Coffee & Café, Graceful Opportunities operates an assortment of work opportunities including a company store, a farm (opening 2025), and a commercial kitchen (opening 2025). Many of our employees are individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities who are supported to succeed at work by a team of trained vocational mentors.
Graceful Opportunities also facilitates the Rules of the Road – Missouri driver’s education program designed to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities to qualify for a Missouri Learner’s Permit.
Grace Coffee & Café is a coffee house and restaurant proudly serving Kaldi’s Coffee at one of three locations: our flagship store at 1865 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, Southeast Missouri University’s Dempster Hall, and Discovery Playhouse at 502 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. With each cup of coffee you buy, everyone who “graces” the café is supporting our mission to create a more inclusive community by empowering those who face barriers to employment. The Grace model is specifically designed to train dedicated, enthusiastic, and passionate workers. That is what customers experience at Grace Coffee & Café.
Many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can learn to be safe and responsible drivers. Graceful Opportunities offers a two-tier driver’s education program, Rules of the Road – Missouri.
Participants begin with twelve 1-hour classroom sessions that are enhanced by experience on a driving simulator. These sessions are currently offered in Cape Girardeau, with additional locations launching in 2025. This first phase prepares an individuals to take the Missouri Written Test and earn their driver’s permit.
Once they have a permit, participants can move into the second tier, which includes behind-the-wheel instruction. This consists of another set of twelve 1-hour sessions using the participant’s own vehicle, supported by a our driving instructor.
For information about enrolling in Graceful Opportunities’ Rules of the Road – Missouri, we invite you to attend the next free informational workshop. Contact us for more details about the next session.

Our farm is located on three acres in Millersville, Missouri. The farm serves as a laboratory and employment for individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities to experience and gain skills in agriculture. The farm’s first growing season will be 2025 when we plan to produce microgreens, herbs, vegetables, and cut flowers. Future products may include eggs, fruits, and honey. The farm will collaborate with our culinary program to host regular farm-to-table dinners beginning in 2025. To stay informed about when our farm-to-table dinner events will be and to arrange to purchase tickets, join our mailing list by emailing lesley@grhs-mo.com. Put “mailing list” in the subject line, please.
Our culinary program will open in 2025. Trained individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will work alongside our instructional chef to oversee the baking for Grace Coffee & Café. Fresh ingredients from the farm will be turned into jams, jellies, and pickles that will be available for sale at the local farmers’ markets and at the company store.
The company store is the retail outlet for items grown at the farm, produced in our culinary program, as well as artwork and refurbished furniture made by interns and employees with intellectual disabilities. The company store will open to the community in 2026.
